U.S. Weightlifting Athlete Natalie Franklin Receives Sanction for Anti-Doping Rule Violation

USADA announced today that Natalie Franklin, of Greenwood, Ind., an athlete in the sport of weightlifting, has received a four-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation.

 

Franklin, 32, tested positive for ostarine and its metabolite, o-desphenylostarine, and LGD-4033 and its metabolite, di-hydroxy-LGD-4033, as the result of a urine sample collected out-of-competition on April 7, 2019. Ostarine and LGD‐4033 are non-Specified Substances in the class of Anabolic Agents and are prohibited at all times under the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee National Anti-Doping Policies, and the International Weightlifting Federation Anti-Doping Policy, all of which have adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.

 

Franklin’s four-year period of ineligibility began on October 10, 2019, the date her sanction was imposed. In addition, Franklin has been disqualified from competitive results obtained on and subsequent to April 7, 2019, the date her positive sample was collected, including forfeiture of any medals, points and prizes.
