U SPORTS Athlete Suspended for the Presence of anabolic agent

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced today that Dawson Odei, a U SPORTS football athlete affiliated with the University of Ottawa, received an 18-month sanction for an anti-doping rule violation. The athlete’s urine sample, collected during in-competition doping control on November 3, 2018, revealed the presence of dehydrochlormethyltestosterone, a prohibited anabolic agent.
In response to the CCES’s notification of the adverse analytical finding, Mr. Odei admitted the anti-doping rule violation and a hearing was held to determine the sanction length. Following an agreed to schedule of proceedings between both the CCES and athlete, a hearing was held on August 23, 2019. Arbitrator Peter Lawless imposed a sanction of 18 months ineligibility from sport, terminating June 11, 2020. During the sanction period, the athlete, who resides in Ottawa, ON, is ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport signatory to the CADP, including training with teammates.

Un athlète de U SPORTS suspendu pour la présence d'un agent anabolisant

Le Centre canadien pour l’éthique dans le sport (CCES) a annoncé aujourd’hui que Dawson Odei, un athlète de football de U SPORTS affilié à l’Université d’Ottawa, s’est vu imposer une suspension de 18 mois pour une violation des règles antidopage. L’échantillon d’urine de l’athlète, prélevé dans le cadre d’un contrôle du dopage en compétition le 3 novembre 2018, a révélé la présence de déhydrochlorméthyltestostérone, un agent anabolisant interdit.
En réponse à la notification du résultat d’analyse anormal par le CCES, M. Odei a avoué la violation des règles antidopage, et une audience a eu lieu pour déterminer la durée de la sanction. À la suite d’un échéancier convenu entre le CCES et l’athlète, une audience a eu lieu le 23 août 2019. L’arbitre Peter Lawless a imposé une sanction de 18 mois prenant fin le 11 juin 2020. Durant la période de la sanction, il est interdit à l’athlète, qui réside à Ottawa en Ontario, de participer à quelque titre que ce soit à un sport signataire du PCA, y compris de s’entraîner avec ses coéquipiers.
