Footballer banned for four years

Football player Joshua Yorwerth, then of Peterborough United FC, has been suspended from all sport for a period of four years following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
During an attempted out-of-competition test at his home address on 25 September 2018, Mr Yorwerth failed to answer the door despite being at home.
Mr Yorwerth later admitted he did not answer the door as he had been using cocaine the previous weekend and believed that if he was tested he would face a two-year suspension.
Mr Yorweth was charged with an ADRV pursuant to regulation 5 of the FA Anti-Doping Regulations – “Evading, refusing or failing to submit to Sample collection”, as well as regulation 4.2 of the FA Social Drugs Policy Regulations – “Prohibited conduct”.
UKAD’s Chief Executive, Nicole Sapstead, said: “All athletes have a responsibility to comply with sample collection regulations, regardless of the circumstances.
“Furthermore, all athletes must comply with the principle of strict liability and must face the consequences should they choose to break the rules, or try to evade a test.”
The period of ineligibility shall apply from the date of provisional suspension (3 October 2018) until midnight on 2 October 2022.
