New four-year mandate for Mijatovi? in Slovenia
Radenko Mijatović has been re-elected as president of the Football Association of Slovenia (NZS) for a second four-year term.
Mijatović (56), who succeeded the current UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin as NZS president in 2016, was the only candidate for the position in a virtual election at the Slovenian association’s general assembly.
New times call for new technology, and the NZS held its assembly within a virtual environment for the first time in the year that the association celebrates its centenary.
Honour and responsibility
Mijatović spoke of the honour and responsibility he feels at holding the president’s position at a time when the world as a whole and football as a sport are facing major challenges.
“My decision to go for another mandate wasn’t self-evident,” he explained. “But it’s easier because of all the people I work with who create this supportive environment.”
“I would like to thank everybody for their support in the last four years,” he added. “We managed to achieve a lot - but this is behind us, and I’d now like to focus on the future.”
